Do you have uneven breasts?

You might not realise it, but up to one in two women actually have uneven breasts. In many cases, the difference is slight.

However in some instances, the difference between each breast size can be a cause of discomfort and embarrassment for women in their day-to-day life.

If you have very uneven breasts and want to explore your options, our plastic surgery clinic can help you!

Cairns Plastic Surgery is a plastic surgery clinic based in the heart of Cairns that helps transform lives by boosting your confidence and helping you improve the contours of your body.

If you’d like to take advantage of our free appointment with a Cairns nurse, we invite you to get in touch online or give us a call today.

How can I even out my asymmetrical breasts?

There are various procedures that make your breasts appear more even, that may help to combat a range of issues, including:

  • One breast bigger than the other
  • One breast sitting higher than the other
  • One having an inverted nipple
  • One droops more than the other

Learn about our different breast surgeries below to figure out which one is right for your body type.

Breast implants for asymmetrical breasts

Breast implants or breast augmentation is one of the most common breast surgery procedures.

It involves implanting silicone or saline breast implants into the chest, which makes the breast rounder, more filled, and more voluptuous.

Breast augmentation in QLD for uneven breasts may be optional if one of your breasts is much larger than the other because you can opt for two different sized implants to an implant in the single smaller breast only.

Can I use my own fat for breast augmentation?

Autologous breast augmentation or breast fat grafting is the process of removing and injecting your own fat into your breasts instead of getting a solid implant.

Cairns Plastic Surgery does not offer this procedure as it makes it harder to detect breast cancer in the future, and not all patients will have enough fat to produce bigger breasts.

What is the best age to get breast augmentation?

Anyone over 18 can get breast implants, but it may be best to get breast implants after you give birth to your last child.

Alternatively, you do need to understand that pregnancy may affect the shape of your breasts, and as such this is an important consideration to make, especially if you are already concerned with your breast shape, size, or asymmetry.

Additionally, if you plan on losing weight, you may like to wait until you have done so before getting breast augmentation surgery.

Is breast augmentation painful?

At Cairns Plastic Surgery, our breast augmentation surgery requires you to be put under a general anaesthetic so you will be unconscious during the procedure.

During recovery you may experience pain or discomfort, so it is critical that you take adequate time to rest and recover; after all, this is major surgery! A rushed recovery can affect your outcome and results.

Breast lift for asymmetrical breasts

If your breasts appear uneven because one of them droops and the other sits in a higher position, then breast or “boob” lift surgery may be a good option for you.

A breast lift, also known as mastopexy is a procedure designed to lift the breasts by removing excess skin which tightens the breasts and positions them higher. The result in a more youthful looking and perkier chest.

Breast reduction surgery for asymmetrical breasts

If your breasts are asymmetrical because one is quite large and you would feel more comfortable if they were both the smaller one’s size, then breast reduction surgery may be for you.

Breast reduction surgery for a single breast removes excess fat, skin, and glandular tissue, which reduces the size of the breast, allowing women to achieve their preferred smaller bust line.

Breast implant removal for asymmetrical breasts

Breast explant (commonly known as breast implant removal) is when our surgeons at Cairns remove an artificial implant or implants from your chest.

There are several reasons people do this, including getting them replaced. If there is a rupture or leak in one of the implants, this can decrease its size, resulting in uneven breasts.

You can also get a breast explant if you are wanting to go back to your natural chest size or if you are feeling uncomfortable with your breast implants from another surgeon.

Nipple surgery for asymmetrical breasts

If one of your nipples is inverted, then our team at Cairns can perform surgery on your nippleto make both nipples and breasts more equal.

Nipple surgery involves reshaping the nipple and the areolae by creating several small incisions around the nipple and cutting milk ducts to enable the nipple to protrude.
