Cairns Plastic Surgery: our approach to COVID-19

  • Skin cancer Telehealth appointments

The world’s current events have shocked many of us. Experiencing a pandemic for the first (and likely only) time in our lifetime is uncomfortable and nerve-wracking, and brings feelings of uncertainty. Cairns Plastic Surgery shares its approach to our “new normal”.

As expected, many of us have concerns about the way we go about our normal routine. In fact, normal seems to have a totally different meaning these days!

As we approach the fifth month of the COVID-19 impact on Australia, businesses all over the country are beginning to look at ways to resume their operations – albeit in a different manner.

Restaurants have to limit the number of patrons dining in, while exercise classes must cap numbers and maintain social distancing.

It’s a weird change, but something we must all continue to do in order to stop the spread and keep our communities safe.

At Cairns Plastic Surgery, we are taking the utmost care to ensure our patients’ safety is at the forefront of everything we do.

It always has been, but now, additional precautions must be made during this unprecedented time.

Now, we are seeing statewide easing of restrictions. We want to share with you the measures we are taking to assure your health and safety during this time.

Cairns approach to COVID-19

What’s been going on in Queensland?

For us here in Queensland, all elective surgeries were paused in March.

Just a few weeks ago, this restriction was lifted due to the state’s effective management of the COVID-19 crisis.

It is important that the reintroduced should be gradual. Clinics must take into account their own schedules and staffing as to whether they can reintroduce procedures.

We are taking reasonable measures to ensure that your appointment, surgery, and all related communication is undertaken in the safest manner possible.

That might mean that when you come to visit us in the clinic, there are some rules to follow:

  • We may ask you to remain in your vehicle before entering the waiting room
  • You may call us to tell us that you have arrived
  • We will call you when we are ready for you to enter the clinic
  • We will be limiting the number of patients allowed in the waiting room at one time
  • Social distancing must be adhered to at all times
  • We will provide hand sanitiser and limit interactions
  • We may take your temperature before you enter

Cairns asks that if you are experiencing any of the symptoms associated with COVID-19 that you inform us by telephone BEFORE your appointment. We may advise postponing or rescheduling your appointment, or, depending on the nature, we may be able to conduct it online via Telehealth.

We’re using Telehealth to communicate with clients

Where possible, we are conducting all initial nurse conversations online via video conferencing tools.

These tools help us deliver our signature FREE conversation with a Cairns Plastic Surgery nurse, all from the comfort of your home.

The chat runs exactly as our in-person appointments. You can ask us any questions you may have about your procedure, or we can discuss your pain points. We can also  discover the types of procedures that may be best suited to help address your needs. Our team is also conducting skin cancer assessments online.

We hope this will help ease your concerns not only regarding a cosmetic procedure but also in regards to remaining in the safety of your home.
