Specialist Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon

Dr Hertess offers a female perspective on plastic and reconstructive surgery, backed by more than 30 years of surgical experience. She has a particular interest in all forms of breast surgery, as well as skin cancer surgery, and is known throughout Far North Queensland for her honest, patient-first approach.

Dr Hertess is a Specialist Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon with FRACS qualification and membership of the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons. Cairns Plastic Surgery is centrally located within the Cairns Medical Specialist Centre, at Level 1, Suite 12A, 193–197 Lake Street, Cairns, QLD 4870.

We're within walking distance of Cairns Private Hospital, where most surgical procedures take place, as well as a range of nearby accommodation options for patients travelling from outside Cairns, including Townsville and the wider Far North Queensland region.

Yes. Dr Hertess is a FRACS-qualified Specialist Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon and a member of the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons, with more than 20 years of surgical experience.

Where does surgery take place?

Most surgical procedures are performed at Cairns Private Hospital, located directly across the road from our Lake Street clinic. Some minor procedures are performed within our clinic.

Do I need a referral to book a consultation?

A referral from your GP is generally required for surgical consultations, particularly where Medicare rebates may apply. Contact our team, and we can advise on what's needed for your specific procedure.

What happens at the complimentary information session?

This is an opportunity to meet our consultants, discuss your goals, and get a general overview of your procedure options before your formal consultation with Dr Hertess.

Do you treat patients from outside Cairns?

Yes. We regularly see patients travelling from across Far North Queensland, including Townsville, and can provide guidance on accommodation and travel planning for your surgery and recovery.
